Tool Project Manager

Responsibility includes planning, managing and controlling all aspects of new tooling project(s) including administering all APQP related activities. The tooling project(s) shall encompass all activities required to successfully link Canadian customers to the Asian tool shops. Extensive knowledge of tool making is required. 

DUTIES:

  1. Attendance at the customer’s facility during project kick-off, design, build, and launch phase.
  2. Attend 2D tooling drawing review at customer’s facilities. Support and provide tool making recommendations to customer.
  3. Resolution of any issues that arise during design, build and launch phase, by communicating and meeting customer’s needs.
  4. Follow up and track tool build progress.
  5. Review APQP project schedule and vendor timing charts, and implement corrective action where required.
  6. Coordinate sample, prototype and T1 builds with customer as required
  7. Coordinate to ensure that all test materials are available and shipped to Asia prior to T1.
  8. Maintain good relationships and liaison with current and potential customers.

 WORK EXPERIENCE: 

 
5 or more years experience in tool making
 
Previous experience in an automotive environment is ideal
 
Other tool making experience is ideal (i.e. stamping, die casting, etc.)
 
Ability to demonstrate strong project management and organizational skills.
 
Excellent communication and technical writing skills.
 
Must have previous experience working in a team environment and with customers and suppliers

EDUCATION:

    Tool and Die Maker License
    Post secondary University degree, College diploma or equivalent.
